9 Vacation (or Quarantine) Rentals in Palm Springs
Friends (and friends of friends) are often asking me for recommendations on where to stay when they come to Palm Springs. Luckily, there are no shortage of homes to rent in the area but going down the Airbnb rabbit hole is often overwhelming and confusing. So, here is a short list of homes owned by a few of my friends; I’ve personally visited them all so you know you aren’t going to be surprised when you arrive.
Where to Stay in Palm Springs
I would be remiss if I didn’t include my house. Right now, we’re living here full time as we decide what life will look like for us post-Covid but we’ll be back to renting it after we set out on our next adventure. Obviously I’m biased but it has an amazing layout with incredible natural light throughout, a fun hot pink door and breathtaking mountain views. The house is bookended by a master suite on each end and a playful bedroom, perfect for the kids in the middle. The backyard has 27 palm trees (!) and citrus trees of every kind - you’ll have a hard time choosing between the orange or the grapefruit for your morning juice.

This house is a gem and was recently featured on the cover of Sunset Magazine. Every inch of this 3-bedroom home has been thoughtfully curated with authentic Moroccan finds (imported by the owners’ shop, Soukie Modern), killer art and a black bottom pool complete with laughing buddha to watch over you as you float in the afternoon sun.
Sleeps 6.
Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in the heart of Palm Springs, this house is the spot for celebrations. Accented with fun wallpaper throughout (amazing for an impromtu photoshoot), this house has everything you need to relax and recharge. I love the mountain views from the hot tub and the game room complete with old school arcade games is a special treat.
Sleeps 6.
Open, airy and beautifully remodeled, this house is a great spot for traveling with baby. Amenities include a pack & play, highchair and dishes for your little one. The owners are both creatives that have a keen eye for detail and much of the artwork and furniture was handmade by the owners themselves. I especially love the outdoor lounge area with beautiful sofa and fire pit and cruiser bikes for exploring town, but I have a feeling you won’t want to venture very far.
Sleeps 6.
For people who are looking for a little hideaway from the rest of their family or friends, this property has a separate casita to escape to when you need a little space. Gorgeous mountain views from every room and the perfect spot to set up for a week (or two).
Sleeps 6.
Every inch of this 1959 Alexander Butterfly House has been meticulously restored and reimagined to mid-century modern perfection. Given the owners have worked most of their careers in the luxury hotel business, no detail has been overlooked in this classic. A huge backyard and saltwater pool is the ideal place to marvel at the mountains from morning til night.
Sleeps 6.
Some of my favorite Palm Springs memories have happened here at this beautiful compound in the Deepwell neighborhood on the South end of town. It’s biking distance to my house (sweet!) and has one of the best outdoor areas with dramatic unobstructed views of the San Jacinto mountains. From the covered dining table for leisurely dinner parties to a fully enclosed yard with gorgeous pool, hot tub and fire pit, it’s perfect for a slightly larger group that wants to stay in style.
Sleeps 8.
What can I say, this house is just bananas. 5-bedrooms in a newly built Eichler, it’s a mid-century lovers dream. Owned by the hosts of HGTV’s Should I Stay or Go, every inch of this gorgeous gem screams Palm Springs perfection. With custom murals in the atrium, an oversized saltwater pool and spa and beautiful tile throughout the kitchen and baths, you’ll wonder why you don’t live this way year-round. My favorite thing about this home is that each of the beautiful bedrooms has a unique personality with amazing wallpaper in each from pineapples to palms, and you’ll feel like you are in your very own HGTV show, desert edition.
Sleeps 10.
Whether you are looking to relocate for several months or planning a shorter visit once it’s safe to travel again, any of these homes would be wonderful places to settle into. If you want to be active and hike the countless trails in and around the city or not leave the pool, Palm Springs has something for everyone.
